What is the difference between rigid tapping and tension-compression tapping?

Rigid Tapping (Synchronous Tapping): This occurs when the CNC machine spindle rotation and Z-axis feed are electronic/mechanically synchronized down to the microsecond. The pitch feed matches the tap exactly.

Tension-Compression Tapping: For older or less precise CNC machinery, or during high-acceleration cycles, synchronization errors can occur. A tension-compression attachment provides a mechanical "buffer" (axial float). This float absorbs the synchronization discrepancy, preventing axial stress on the tap threads, reducing wear, and eliminating cross-threading.

How do I adjust the torque settings on a safety clutch tapping attachment?

Our safety clutch tapping attachments feature an adjustable torque sleeve with scale markings. To adjust the torque:

  1. Identify the correct target torque rating for your specific tap size and material type using our torque specification guide.
